We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Art Director (m/f/d) to join our passionate team. As our Art Director, you will play a crucial role in shaping the visual identity for our new IP. You will lead and inspire a team of artists, guiding them through the creative process to ensure the game's art direction meets the highest standards of quality and exceeds player expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and communicate a compelling artistic vision for the game, ensuring it aligns with the overall creative direction and narrative.
- Collaborate closely with the game's creative leads, including the creative director, to establish a cohesive visual style and atmosphere.
- Lead and manage a team of artists, providing mentorship, guidance, and constructive feedback throughout the development process.
- Oversee the creation of concept art, character design, environment design, and other visual assets, maintaining consistency and fidelity across all elements.
- Define and maintain the art production pipeline, ensuring efficient workflows and timely delivery of assets.
- Collaborate with technical artists and programmers to implement art assets into the game engine while considering technical constraints.
- Conduct regular art reviews and provide feedback to ensure the visual quality and integrity of the game are maintained.
- Select external service providers for art outsourcing
- Review and discuss budgets, progress and timelines with the production department
- Identify required tools and engine improvements and prioritize and plan them together with the technical and production departments
- Participate in recruitment to build the artistic team and foster their growth
Requirements:
- Extensive experience as an Art Director or a similar role in the video game industry
- Expertise in various art disciplines, including concept art, character design, environment design, and visual storytelling
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
- A deep understanding of current trends and techniques in video game art, and the ability to apply them in innovative ways
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed artistic decisions while considering technical constraints.
- A passion for video games and a desire to create extraordinary player experiences
- Expertise to anticipate, prioritize, and organize work to meet objectives
